Hayling
Spent the morning session with Tim and Chris; entertaining and informative but cold and windy with just a few walking/dog-walking visitors, some wind-surfers off the car-park and the odd jogger. The 'Oysterbed Bush' provided the only shelter!! Plenty of BHG, Common Tern and Oyk activity; a few Med Gulls and Sandwich Terns in and out.Plenty of brown fluffy BHG chicks.Potentially some 'challenging' hours to be spent there in the months ahead.Hoping for some better weather and remember to take a foldaway chair next time.

PB
Nice sunny day, but cold wind. The travelling wagtails seemed OK with plenty of food coming in.Funny to hear they'd had a day-trip to Selsey!!Spotted Fly on the heathland, GSW chick having troubles coordinating its landing, lots of Great Tit families and several 4-spots on Black Pond.No Oriole song today. Elsewhere 4+ LRPs and great views of a Hobby from Jupps, Grass Snake in Fattingates and the Nightingale there showed well for most people.

Blashford
Had Tern hide to myself from just before opening: relocated car to main car park and walked through to Goosander.Very few people 'til lunchtime but still quiet despite pretty decent weather (although cold westerly wind).Several Buzzard including two different pale birds plus two Hobby chasing each other all over the skies west of the reserve. Fox with a face stuffed full of bunny and a single Roe Deer. Woodland hide area well overgrown and birdless. Ivy South entertaining with helpful and informative people, a Coot family, plenty of Tern activity on the rafts, a single Red Kite, my first Red-eyed damselfly of the year and a GC Grebe trying to devour a large Perch (poor record shot of this).

Cissbury and Pulborough
A short session on Cissbury with photography in mind and the potential for overflying raptors on a sunny day was hi-jacked by a Temminck's Stint at Pulborough. Loads of people enjoyed the stint and 2 Avocet which presumably dropped in over night as yesterday, duty day, was pretty birdless. Typical!! More so when I heard there had been an HB south-east over north Worthing; did it go over Cissbury? Record shot of Hobby here and a Yellowhammer from Cissbury on flickr.

Out and about local
Well, with the Pom season now over (to all intents and purposes), time for some photography or at least birding without a scope! Yesterday the Jay and today the Dabchick; nice Buzzards displaying today although too high for pictures as was the screaming Peregrine. Sedge and Reed Warblers were both disinclined to 'stick their heads up'; when they did they were straight into the Sun.Grrrr!

Pulborough in the sunshine
After a bit of a 'purple-patch', today seemed noticeably quieter with the exception of those blasted Nightingales; they just won't shut-up! However, a stonking male Pied Flycatcher investigating a nest box was a nice bonus, as were the two Spotted Flycatchers which chased it off - my first of both species for the year. Two very distant Hobbies over the Arun were pointed out to a group from the Westmead hide along with a single remaining Whimbrel. Plenty of insect activity with some massive Hornets near the picnic area.

New Forest
A quick tour of my June HOS walk site to re-familiarise myself with footpaths produced lots of Redstart, half a dozen 'shivering' Wood Warblers and several Firecrests. No sound of any Lesser-spots, nor, strangely, any Crossbill. A displaying Sparrowhawk and a perched Gos plus a few Buzzard.Only two Tree Pipit. Only saw one other person during the whole walk; fabulous!!
